MEET LOIS MAYS, RCA PRESIDENT

Lois and her husband, Bill, are from St. Petersburg, Florida; however, she has numerous family ties to Lincoln County. In 2022, Mrs. Mays was named National Educator of the Year by the National Association of Private Special Education Centers. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1994 with a degree in Elementary Education and spent the next 11 years teaching reading and language arts to middle school children. In 2005, she earned her Masters' Degree in Educational Leadership and left the classroom to become a middle school administrator. Mrs. Mays has served as a school principal in Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama. Prior to coming to RCA, Mrs. Mays served as the Director of LiFT University in Seminole, Florida.

“I believe that God gives each of us gifts, and that we have to step into them and realize that it is our calling to do those things. I am certain that God has led me to Fayetteville and to Riverside Christian Academy. I am passionate about my work at RCA because I know that God will lead me and help me pull from the toolbox of experiences, education, and gifts He has given me to help this school and its families flourish. I love working with families and building children up to see that they are here for a purpose and that they are a part of the community in which they live and have gifts and abilities to contribute.” said Mrs. Mays.

Mrs. Mays and her husband have served alongside one another in church and have been active in many ministry areas for years. She also regularly speaks at women’s conferences around the country.

“I am excited to be in an atmosphere where I can pray with my students and the families in my school. I love walking the hallways at RCA because everything on the walls exudes affirmation to the students, faculty, and staff. When you walk through our halls, you can’t help but be encouraged," said Mrs. Mays. “I believe there is beauty in RCA’s small size, and that there is power in getting the word out about the school and what it has to offer families. I believe that RCA will see more growth as people become aware of what RCA can do to help the community.”
