Art Program
The Art program at RCA helps students learn to foster creativity and understand the world around them by teaching a wide variety of skills, including art making, art history, art criticism, and cultural understanding. All grade levels take part in art classes from Preschool through High School. Emphasis is placed on giving the students a foundation of technical skills and how to logically apply those skills to their own concepts. Students will also learn how Christian art has changed over time and how it has impacted the arts. RCA Art students can benefit academically from art classes in a multitude of ways.
Benefits of the Arts Experience at RCA:
- Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness.
- Visual arts teach learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance: all techniques that are necessary in presentations (visual, digital) of academic work.
- The arts encourage an improved understanding of self and a greater sense of confidence among students. Art also introduces students to varied avenues of self-expression and allows them to use the more creative side of their brain.
- Art makes people optimistic about their future. Art can be used to help spread a message of inspiration, making people achieve great things in life.
- Art can be a form of communication between people, to focus on common issues for the betterment of humankind.
- Art improves creative thinking. Creative thinking refers to using abilities and soft skills to come up with new solutions to problems. Creative thinking skills are techniques used to look at the issue from different and creative angles, using the right tools to assess it and develop a plan.
The Art program will challenge students to help others to work in a new way. They will discover how the arts can help support, expand, and serve the communities around them. While developing a deeper spiritual relationship and sharing the arts with others. When opportunities arise, we will work with those in need to grow and assist with community development.
